Stay Connected

Whether a recent graduate or one from the four original charter classes, UNE COM alumni all hold special memories associated with their time, place, and journey through their medical education on the coast of Maine. Likewise, the college has special memories of each of our alumni and encourages all to let us know what is happening in their lives through our Stay Connected feature. Be sure to join us for upcoming alumni events at various national meetings, state society conferences, or specialty college meetings, to renew acquaintances and meet new friends who all hold something in common — the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Another great way to stay involved is to volunteer. We depend on our alumni volunteers to be ambassadors of the Alumni Association and the University, and to help us connect with alumni in new and creative ways.

Advise a Club/Student Organization

UNE COM has nearly 50 student organizations devoted to various medical specialties, advocacy groups, and special interests. Alumni regularly return in person and virtually to provide mentorship and presentations to our students. If you’re interested in reconnecting with your old clubs or helping build a better network for new ones, fill out the Alumni Club Advising Interest Form.

Recommend a Candidate

Our alumni are some of our best recruiters. If you meet someone who has an interest in UNE COM please be sure to send any recommendations or endorsements to comrecruitment@sh-fyz.com.

Help Interview the Incoming Class

As part of our faculty and student interview teams, alumni are invited to help interview applicants and assist in the decision of the candidate’s application. Applicants are interviewed virtually and are assessed on fit, motivation, initiative, leadership potential, work/life experience, extracurricular activities, interest in the philosophy of osteopathy, etc. You can sign up to participate by emailing comrecruitment@sh-fyz.com.

Alumni Impact

We value and appreciate the support our alumni provide by recommending applicants, mentoring current students, providing programs to our clubs and organizations and opening doors to various clinical sites and educational opportunities. UNE COM alumni truly live the phrase of their Osteopathic Oath:

To my college I will be loyal and strive always for its best interest and for the interests of the students who will come after me.”

A testament of the value alumni place on the education they received at UNE COM is the number of excellent applicants they bring to our attention or those they encourage to apply to UNE COM. We are proud of the number of alumni who have offspring currently enrolled, or soon to be enrolled, in our College. There can be no higher testament given to the quality of education received, or faith in the current educational value, than by having alumni offspring enrolled in our College of Osteopathic Medicine. Any alumni who wish to bring candidates to our attention are encouraged to contact us via unecomalumni@sh-fyz.com.
